We want you to get the multicultural care that you deserve.

The Holistic Living Co. is a therapy practice rooted in the belief that distress does not exist in a vacuum. We were created in response to a mental health system that too often individualizes pain while ignoring the systems that produce it. What we carry in our bodies and minds is shaped by history, migration, culture, power, control, and abuse; often long before it shows up as anxiety, depression, burnout, or disconnection.

We take a different stance. We slow things down, widen the lens, and make room for truth. We honor lived experience, ancestral knowledge, and the reality that healing is not just personal, but relational and collective. Here, emotions are not problems to fix, but signals to listen to. Therapy becomes a space to feel, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most, because none of us are meant to heal in isolation.

Our Story

Is this the Right Therapy Practice for You?

This space may be for you if:

  • You are an immigrant, child of immigrants, or BIPOC carrying stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, or intergenerational pain

  • You are going through a major life transition and contemplating what to do or how to move forward

  • You are high-achieving and often a perfectionist but feel unseen, unheard, exhausted, disconnected, or “not good enough”

  • You want to process childhood and/or intergenerational trauma, including abuse, war, and/or attempted genocide

  • You are experiencing work stress and burnout and want to process it, come up with solutions, and figure out your next steps

  • You want therapy that honors context, identity, history, and lived experience

This space may not be the best fit if:

  • You are looking for someone to tell you “what to do” and give you “advice”. Here we work with you on taking your power back after experiencing harm, so you can develop your own skills and capacity to trust yourself

  • You are looking for a quick fix or only symptom-focused therapy

  • You want to avoid conversations about culture, systems, or social inequity

  • You do not feel prepared to face, feel, and process all of the emotions that may come up or to address patterns of behaviors that are no longer serving you or your loved ones

Meet the Founder: Providing a Personalized Approach

The clinical work at The Holistic Living Co. is led by Christeen Badie, an Arab immigrant social worker with over 14 years of experience across public health, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health systems.

Christeen’s professional path began long before private practice. Her work has spanned frontline community services, statewide prevention initiatives, and systems-level advisory roles. This breadth of experience allows her to move fluidly between individual clinical care and a sophisticated understanding of how care delivery itself impacts outcomes.

Her background includes:

  • Supporting immigrants and refugees in navigating complex service systems and accessing culturally responsive mental health care

  • Leading statewide child abuse prevention and anti–human trafficking education efforts, with a focus on strengthening provider capacity

  • Advancing maternal and child health initiatives addressing postpartum depression and early intervention

  • Providing specialized trauma therapy to survivors of sexual violence and their families

  • Advising state agencies on improving access, accountability, and quality within mental health systems

This work has given her an uncommon perspective: she understands both how trauma affects the nervous system and the brain and how institutional systems influence who receives care, when, and how.

In the therapy room, Christeen integrates evidence-based modalities with deep attunement and clinical knowledge. Her approach is person-centered, steady, and intentional. Rather than positioning herself as the authority over a client’s life, she partners with clients to strengthen their internal clarity, restore self-trust, and expand their capacity to make aligned decisions. Insight is not imposed, it is cultivated through careful pacing, attuned presence, and thoughtful guidance.

Outside of her clinical work, Christeen has been happily married to her Mexican husband for 15 years and brings a lived understanding of multicultural partnership to her work. Together, she and her husband are foster parents to unaccompanied minors — an experience that centers their commitment to welcome immigrants, dignity, safety, and belonging.

Christeen is also the founder of zenterrainteriors.com, where she designs restorative spaces that support regulation and healing. When she is not working, she can be found cooking, traveling, taking long walks with her husband, or spending time with her Frenchie, Quito, who is also the Chief Therapy Dog.
